It was probably the best angle he could get and didn't want to miss anything as it was all happening so fast. Anyone who thinks otherwise must be severely disillusioned!

It doesn't really matter as there are eye witness accounts of the darker gent attacking people. It might be put down to terrorism because technically it might count as that, but he is just a nutter like most of them.
