  1. We need to start doing what the French have been for years and promote sailing and boating in general (plaisance is the term they use I believe) to ordinary people. This has boosted their economy enormously.

  4. @@LordOfTheCats-ok3nj To be honest, if some of those complaining loudly about the situation got together they could at least start to do something about it, even if it was to take the occasional trip over to France and wander along some beaches or use jet skis out in international waters.

  5. We don't need warships when a bunch of jet skiers could do the same for a fraction of the cost.

  6. Blasting up and down the shipping lanes at 30 knots would work wonders, specially if the boats were not properly trimmed so they created a lot of wake.

  9. @@LordOfTheCats-ok3nj I live too far west and although something needs to be done, as a regular water user (sailing) it is very much against the accepted rules of the sea to deliberately endanger another user because you would not want it happening to you. Similarly, it is one of those unwritten rules that you should try to rescue anyone in peril on the water if you can do safely. There is however a whole new generation of PWC users who have little care for anyone else!

  11.  @nikobellic570  It certainly should. When you think about all the famous French sailors over the last 50 plus years you understand why "democratising " sailing as they put it has done so much for them.
