This incident needs to be accurately reported in all places these people have come from and possibly even be made to sound worse to try and put people off. The gangs organising the crossings need to be thoroughly demonised and it made very clear that they are responsible for this incident. France is a really safe and friendly country with low population density and numerous houses for sale for very little money- why do people want to come here instead?

@davidjacobs828 They don't annoy me unless they bring their crimes with them and / or their behaviour is not acceptable by normal standards.

It is so lucky cars don't kill people in the UK otherwise you would need a license to buy and own one and be over a certain age, you would also need a license to buy fuel.

It just goes to show that democracy is not for anyone!
2
@laylanabakova9765 I think you might have the wrong link, it was pretty abstract and boring!
2
@davidjacobs828 What is your real Albanian name then?
2
@daseteam Sorry, but how do I know what? - That France is a very nice place etc? Been there lots. My other half was not born in England, spent the early years of her life in one of the old colonial countries on the other side of the world before moving to the UK. Also whenever I go there, I am impressed by the mix of people who all seem to get one well, regardless of colour or apparent religion.

@MrTM-fg6zn love it! Mind you, cannons are not very cool, innit.
2
Banning anything only impacts the decent law abiding members of society. You only have to look at gun crime in the UK and how it has actually got worse since the various tightening of our firearms laws.
2
The French will not call for stricter knife laws unlike the UK government would because they know it would be a waste of time and money.
2
@suzyqualcast6269 Yep, that is around 3 months take home pay for many people in the UK.
2
@yinoveryang4246 I did not mean the BBC but in the countries where these unfortunate victims came from.

@ErnaldtheSaxon If you say so, looks like I am going to have to seek asylum somewhere nice and warm!
1
@davidjacobs828 So they are bringing their crimes and unacceptable behaviour?
1
@davidjacobs828 I try to avoid big cities, although in my city, I quite often feel like the odd one out.

@daseteam I am very sorry, but it is not all about xenophobia or the like. We are a very small country with quite a high population density. Most people have no real problem with genuine asylum seekers or those who have something to contribute to society here. The problem is in this case, France is already a safe country so why pay huge sums of money to get here via a dangerous crossing when if you settled in France you could then move here much more safely and cheaply. The biggest objection though comes from the so called economic migrants who are coming from safe countries hoping to sneak in when they could very easily, safely & cheaply arrive by legal means. These people are being exploited horrifically and that is what needs to be stopped before more people lose their lives (knowing the English Channel like I do, I suspect a good number have been lost without anyone knowing it!)
1
@daseteam That old line! Why are they cramming houses in places totally unsuited for building? As for workers & taxpayers, no problem with that as such, as long as they are paid a fair wage for a fair job and that has always been the case for most people. There is a bit of an "however" though. Why try to sneak in if you are coming to work, if indeed you are, but also, if these are skilled & valuable workers, what about the country they leave behind - how are they going to cope?
1
@daseteam You have given your own answer and revealed where you are coming from. Not enough houses or infrastructure to cope with our already rapidly increasing population. I want to see countryside and land to grow food for the country without having to ship too much half way round the world. And when sea levels rise and take back swathes of land?
1
@daseteam OK, throw your heritage and history down the toilet just so you feel better about yourself. I think it might be time to move somewhere nicer, France sounds good to me.

@quinncreel6091 Only those who think it is cool to be anti Monarchy.
1
Because most of the UK protests are about entitled, privileged bunny hugging anti oil loonies.

@9000paperclips You obviouslyu did not see the news articles I did in mainstream media then.

@bluecuracaoonice Of course he is not!

@thehangingparsiple5692 There are none so blind as will not see. That or they just lie to make themselves feel good.
1
@thehangingparsiple5692 I think with many topics people tend to talk about the "need" for things rather than the benefits of them, even down to the good old feel good aspects. There are a great many things we don't "need", cars that go over 70 mph, 50" TVs, three bed houses when there are only two people living there, the list goes on. I have a cupboard full of "toys" that I don't "need" and a big yacht too, but these things make my life much better. The same goes for the Monarchy for many people.
1
@quinncreel6091 The reason many younger people don't value the Monarchy is that they simply don't understand the bigger picture and have been taken in by what they have heard from the antis. Personally I would prefer a scaled down version like they have in many other European countries as long as the Monarch still has a little power. Many people complain about the wealth of them but it is irrelevant because unless they spend that money it doesn't benefit them. Just think of all the jobs that depend on the Monarchy.
1
@quinncreel6091 How can it be rational when no one would genuinely benefit?
1
@thehangingparsiple5692 Your points about democracy slipping away are very valid. It happens very quickly in countries where they are not really ready for it but for some reason even fairly well established democracies tend to slip down that route. I have no real answer to it but I suspect it is something to do with too much freedom resulting in the need for more rules to stop anarchy breaking out. Personally I feel that the concept of a benevolent dictatorship / Monarchy would be better than a corrupt apparent democracy as certainly in the case of a Monarchy they look to the future for their families rather than for short term gains.

Very deep, but not really sure what you are saying in terms of how to stop all this?
