When you see pre-teen girls going out dressed as though they are off to a night club for "work", you wonder about parents these days.

If only Huw Edwards had Nord VPN.

It is the civil service that run our country and tell the government what to do.

@archades115 All "isms" start out with good intentions but then along comes human nature with its greed and lust for power.
31
A kid like him would not get the irony of a comedy like Fawlty Towers!

Some of us did all we possibly could, post Dunblane, including a huge protest march through London that did not even make the evening news that night. Our politicians thought that they had to be seen to be doing something and convinced the ignorant non shooters that they were doing the right thing. Both parties tried to out do each other and ban more things. Police corruption and/ or incompetence caused Hungerford, Dunblane and the recent Plymouth tragedies!

The whole Scandi culture worked because they all believed it and trusted each other - now it is paying the price!
17
Sounds like good old Roman and later Viking methodology. Mind you the British were pretty thorough in Tasmania when it came to genocide.
15
@mrcockney-nutjob3832 And they all love their mum. Never any mention of dad?
15
We need some yobs on jet skis (well ,all jet skiers tend to be that) to patrol the English Channel and disrupt things for the dinghies.
13
Foolish woman for having 3 kids and no house. How many fathers are there for them? As others have pointed out, her expectations are unrealistic. Mind you, I have often wondered about moving to France for a number of reasons.
12
@Cerbyo Our folk songs tell tales of previous times and are part of our history. Rap is not music and is vile and incitful.
12
He couldn't bear it!
12
@MiaogisTeas The English are the best at warfare thanks to being conquered so many times, we learned an awful lot that way. It is why we basically ran the world for centuries.
11
Certainly cures mental health issues which seem to be an excuse for appalling behaviour or not working.
11
@Cerbyo It is all a load of angry rubbish and should never be associated with music.

Portsmouth is full of very dubious businesses, barbers, nail bars and beauty parlours etc that cannot really be sustainable. It makes me think of Orwell and the Road to Wigan Pier where he talks of previous luxuries becoming too cheap.
10
As someone in the industry, where would you draw the line at selling fishnet tights to or for a young girl? Or a latex mini dress? I am horrified by some of the kids you see round town, but when you see the mothers, you understand why it is happening!
10
WTF is Purple Aki?
10
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when you refer to "Cuties" and I guess I really don't want to either. I have seen a programme that went into the child beauty competitions they have in the US and that whole scene revolts me - it is just so very wrong on so many levels, even if there is not "inappropriate conduct" between the adults & kids in legal terms, it is still wrong.

The big plug is hilarious! It must have been a piss take which is very clever considering he was a yankee.

I guess you have not realised that this has been happening for ever. When I was at school the "party line" for boys was that you had to be good at sports and being clever was not cool. Looking at my grandson (13) it seems that being enthusiastic about anything is not cool. They get told they are depressed when a pet or a relative dies when they are just sad.

@AbrasiousProductions And why not? - It is what being an individual is all about in this world - not doing something just because you are expected to - good on you.
9
Every pantomime had at least one and generally a "handsome young lad" who was a woman. Going back a fair way, at one time women were not allowed to act on stage so female characters were all actually men.
9
I got lost driving around the outskirts of Paris and found it rather intimidating as I saw very few French people. It was a bit like parts of London!
8
Bit skinny for a real man!
8
Pity those girls didn't panic and rush him out infront of a train.
8
I have to say that I suspect the thought of massive compensation may just have something to do with the whole situation and I bet some solicitors / lawyers are making a lot of cash from it
8
Any half decent leader "could" if they really wanted to.
8
@martinpospisil3747 Maggie started it all by selling the family silver for a song to her cronies who promptly sold it on at a huge profit.

What people forget when it comes to the "own nothing and be happy" mantra is that when you borrow money to buy things you don't actually own them. Not paying off your mortgage as quick as possible and having finance for a new car every few years or buying your huge TV with intallments are classic examples of not owning things yet believing you are happy because you have this stuff.
7
Best place for it!
7
The French seem to have a great high speed rail network and even their ordinary trains are pretty good.
7
@fourthcasper6161 The child in this case was dead months ago!

I was once asked where I was from by someone I think was South African when I was on holiday in East Anglia. No problem whatsoever in answering him although because I doubted he would have heard of the small village I grew up in, said near the local town (Watford). Turned out he had recognised my oddly distinctive local accent which many people would not even detect, and said do you mean XXX. He was spot on! I guess that accent, or more accurately a way of speaking has faded since I moved away.
7
@ashleystyles6888 His father sounds like a good chap, who would have thought that a Tory would be such an enemy of what drives capitalism.
7
It isn't sport, it's a game often played by kids in the park and now used to extract huge sums of money from ordinary people to make a few people very rich.
7
@nunjabeeswaxs4686 There certainly are and always have been boys and girls who go through a "phase" of cross dressing when quite young.
7
What happens when us aboriginal Britains lose our rights to the newcomers in a few years time and there is a similar vote?

Technology and over nurturing kids seems to be the biggest issue. When our grandchildren could not charge their iPhones or not get WIFI for a few days on my yacht they changed a lot. When you think in my day, kids could get hurt playing down the local recreation ground and it taught them a lot. Nowadays the councils are frightened some entitled parents will sue them if little Johnny scratches his knee.
6
@tuseroni6085 Many people can be lonely in a crowd of people while others (like myself) never feel lonely, even if miles from the nearest person. It is almost as if some people are lonely because they are told they should be. Maybe this is one of the reasons some of the younger generations seem to be obsessed with how many "friends " they have on social media when in truth they have no real friends to socialise with.
6
Is it not ironic that you should mention him being a Catholic, given their not so sparkling reputation when it comes to kids?
6
All that torture and slaughter in the name of Jesus! Wonderful! Even one of my ancestors got burned at the stake.
6
Not having kids has meant that 3 of my 4 siblings are leading very comfortably with no mortgages, yachts and motor homes etc while only ever having ordinary jobs. Sounds like a win-win situation to me. The other thing that many people forget is that it will gradually start to end the ever increasing price of housing as there will start to be a surplus.

Historically, Britain gained its strength and fierce fighting reputation due to a form of diversity, however all the elements were from Europe, e.g. the Romans, Angles, Saxons, Vikings and Normans (just French Vikings really). We are a blend of many strong cultures. This does not seem to be happening now as the invasion is through the back door and not through battle and conquest.
5
@TheBcoolGuy Technically you are quite wrong there as it happens. Why are most yachts made of composite materials? The issue comes when you try to mix materials that don't complement eachother or fail to mix properly. Reinforced concrete is very strong but if there is a gap between the concrete and the iron rods it will not last very long.
5
I think you fail to understand the difference between liberal and libertarian, they are very different creatures. Many of those who get branded as left wing these days are what a true socialist would call privileged liberals who only really care about themselves. These are the ones whose parents would have always voted conservative but now feel so entitled due to their comfortable upbringing.
5
@BonusHole You can even be "done" in the UK for having a stout walking staff, if it is deemed that you carried it for self defence .
5
@Deeps__ Two in the heart, one in the head is the old school way.
5
@kmit9191 Unless the cop had more specialist bullets the survival rate for one shot from a 9mm even at close range is far more than you might imagine.
