@Peak_Aussieman Maybe not as lefty as you think and certainly not a troll bot (whatever one of those is). Eugenics has always happened, whether disguised as the death sentence or war. Why do you think loonies got locked up in the past? So they could not breed. Remember many of those loonies are walking amongst us, sometimes with grave consequences.

@kingrobotnik6950 I think you either did not read my remark properly or completely missed the point of it. If someone wants to live then I am fine with them living. If they want to die, is it really up to some virtue signalling individual to deny that? What about someone who has no idea if they are alive or dead (other than the pain they are suffering) and absolutely no quality of life? Switzerland has had this situation for years and it still rates quite high in terms of the best places to live. They also have very low crime rates and a very high number of guns per household even when compared to America.

@EgoChip You obviously didn't see the suffering of my mother for the last 5 plus years of her "life", I could never have made the decision to end her suffering and would not have wanted anyone else to, but in the early stages she had said she didn't want to end up like she did, I would not have challenged her. My father died the way I want to, seemingly moderately healthy and active and enjoying life then dead, no prolonged suffering or feeling useless. I have 5 years left to outlive dad!

@rudi5139 Socrates had a thing or two to say about democracy. Like all religions and political or economic notions, it all gets messed up when people are able to use it to their advantage, and sadly democracy is one of the easiest things to do that with.

@Billmaster115 Wise words. I have a particular respect for Buddhism against some other religions, although strictly speaking it is not a religion in the way others are.

@ethanhinton4549 Someone was saying about barbaric tribes using human sacrifice - it was done for good reasons in their minds. Had chaos and anarchy ruled in those times (as we seem to be heading for) things would be far more barbaric as we are starting to find out with the increase in violent crime on our streets.

A question regarding MAID: What if Covid had turned out to be really serious to all but the youngest & fittest in society (like it could well have done) and left everyone else either dead or unable to work or as vegetables. If the government of a country said, sorry but we are not going to do anything about it as it will be too expensive, would that count as Eugenics or euthanasia?
