  1. Japan has many of its own problems and issues that we would have trouble coping with in the UK. Many of their laws are much more restrictive than in the UK.

  2. I am currently on holiday in northern France and the place seems to be ticking along okay. One thing you do notice here is the huge variation in house prices. In desirable coastal towns prices are much like the UK but go inland and you can get a nice place for 100k€, if you are prepared to do somewhere up, 50k will get you a pretty big place.

  3.  @ZenosOsgorma  That is not strictly true and is always used as an argument against socialism. The problem is one of human nature, there will always be people who want something for nothing. In a capitalist system that will be by theft or deception- just look at our government for that.
