I guess you have not realised that this has been happening for ever. When I was at school the "party line" for boys was that you had to be good at sports and being clever was not cool. Looking at my grandson (13) it seems that being enthusiastic about anything is not cool. They get told they are depressed when a pet or a relative dies when they are just sad.

@tuseroni6085 Many people can be lonely in a crowd of people while others (like myself) never feel lonely, even if miles from the nearest person. It is almost as if some people are lonely because they are told they should be. Maybe this is one of the reasons some of the younger generations seem to be obsessed with how many "friends " they have on social media when in truth they have no real friends to socialise with.

When you think so many kids these days obsess about how many (imaginary) "friends" they have on Facebook etc, it would be nice if they actually went out and did things with real friends like we used to when we were young.

It is funny how many INCELS (the loneliest of the lonely) were so anti social distancing and all that stuff.

@deadprivacy Way back 25 years ago I visited Bangkok and was surprised to see many people wearing masks in public. I guess it was about the high levels of pollution in those days. I guess the same applied to the cyclists you often used to see on the main roads round where I live a few years back.
