I have to admit that the original figures were instinctively wrong by a big magnitude. They were just way too high for a small town like Swindon. That is where common sense has to be used when looking at any statistics.

@Chris-jl6vk Given that around 500 to 600 people were dying each year from what is known as "SADS" in the UK pre Covid (solid & certifiable data), I would say that they are about right, otherwise something would have flagged up in various medical publications. You are talking in the order of 2 cases a week which sort of seems believable. I personally have recently fallen foul of people using spreadsheets who have no real concept of mathematics/ numbers at HMRC when a big lump payment from my pension got added to my normal monthly payment and shown up in place of a standard payment. This resulted in a massive adjustment to my tax code which I am currently trying to get put right!
