Could all these increased deaths have something to do with the rapidly increasing population in the UK and the fact that so many younger people (30's and 40's) have a very unhealthy lifestyle and poor diet with a lot taking various substances? There are also a lot from that generation who got denied vaccines by their trendy parents who believed a lot of the rubbish being pushed out by Americans at the time. This latter fact was something that worried my other half as a health care professional (in various guises) when she was seeing the results in kids and young adults getting ill with things that were rare for the previous generation.

If only your father had been diagnosed earlier he quite likely would have lived a couple of years longer like a number of people I know/ knew.

@tomridley232 About 40 years ago, one of my uncles who had run marathons and always been fit and healthy lost a leg to bone cancer which happened very suddenly. He was recovering and had started to train for the London marathon in the disabled class when suddenly he was hit with brain cancer. A very horrible way to go! He had always been an office worker (the old GLC) so had never been exposed to nasty chemicals like most manual workers are. How does that fit into the "Narrative" as people like to call it these days?

@tomridley232 I do agree with you on many of the points you raise, but going back 80 plus years, none of those things were really happening yet the average lifespan was much lower. Currently people are living much longer than they ever have, and that is due to many factors. Maybe the recent increase in early deaths is just nature / the planet fighting back?

Who really cares? I am alive and reasonably well and so are most people I know. Quite a few friends have died over the last few years but that is pretty normal as you get older, mostly from common types of cancer.

My father died suddenly around 40 years ago aged about 70 so I only have about 7 years to go to beat him. Mum died a horrible lingering death a few years back in a care home - I don't want to go that way!

Birth rate decline is only beneficial for mankind and is linked to a higher standard of living and better education- it is a natural phenomenon.
