I am very concerned that we are being turned into another American state by all the cultural and business ways that are being forced upon us.

It must be possible to hack smart meters in some way or even just block the signal they send out. Perhaps some smart people need to look into this?

More like greed of the suppliers at all levels.

What we need is a break-away lifeboat service. The RNLI are without doubt the best lifeboat service in the world when it comes to rescuing people in trouble on the water. Most of the time they are rescuing idiots who get themselves in trouble but they also go out in extreme conditions to rescue people in real trouble. I still support them begrudgingly as I am a regular water user (sailing my yacht) and I have actually used their services. The government in the form of Border Force should be taking control of the situation rather than relying on volunteers who are there to rescue people in trouble. Maybe the RNLI should start charging to rescue people who have got into their situation due to recklessness? The kids who drift out to sea on inflatables and drunks who jump of piers and the like?

Breast feeding has enormous health benefits to mothers and children including improving immunity. It is also natural and therefore just has to be better. It Also prevents rip-off companies making huge sums of money from formula which I doubt is as well controlled as it might be.
13
It is truly tragic that this should happen to the RNLI. They have always been the best rescue service of their kind in the world. Their equipment and devotion to duty are way ahead of the rest of the world. They don't charge for rescuing anyone, even kids whose parents let the drift out to sea on inflatables or idiots who get cut off by the tide. It is our civil service who have destroyed them and the younger generations with their fantastic "education" but no common sense.
13
If anyone scrapped a car for less than it was worth in this scheme then they are extremely stupid to say the very least! Who on earth would even think about doing that?
10
Someone who has suffered a crime committed by an illegal should sue the boss of the Border Force as ultimately it is them that are to blame and them who should be held responsible.

The big issue with fuel prices used to be that far too many people did not actually pay for their own fuel. This was very apparent locally when there was a Jet and an Esso station virtually next to eachother just down the road from me. They were always both busy despite a big price difference. The same goes for hotels in many places.

Just turn your phone off on the 23rd. If you cannot live without it for one day then there is seriously something wrong with your life!
6
@Tourist1967 If you truly believe what you say then indeed I feel sorry for you (unless of course you are from the younger generation destroying our country).
6
We had a smart meter fitted but still have not got the readout thingy they promised. I will be interested to see my bills after around 2 months holiday with virtually everything in the house turned off.

When you think that Maggie sold off the infrastructure to her mates for next to nothing, the prices should still be lower.
4
In other words, capitalism at work.
4
I wonder what the prices would be like if Maggie had not given the utilities to her mates to make money with?
4
Support your local Corner shop who supports his family back home.

If more people had smaller, more economic cars instead of status symbols and only drove them when actually necessary, the oil companies would suffer as would the government due to loss of tax income (not only from the fuel sales but also from less road tax).
3
In France recently a lot of new comers were filling their trolleys and leaving with no intention of paying!
3
Not seen any comments about the demographics of Luton yet.

@djgoode It does make me laugh when people complain that there electric car will only do 250 miles or whatever. When you think that the average annual mileage is only somewhere round 12,000 and most people only drive 20 or 30 miles a day to and from work it is total nonsense. If a manufacturer came out with a practical EV with ordinary car performance and a 100 mile range it would be vastly cheaper, could easily be much lower tech and would meet many people's needs. Despite the eccentricity, the Citroen Ami at around £6500 would be perfect for huge numbers of people who live in cities which is exactly what it is aimed at.
3
Ever heard of Russell Bertrand and his views on religion?
3
@scaryfakevirus All religions are about power and control, regardless of what they set out to do.
3
As we approach the next election, we will hear more and more promises that will never be honoured, it is what happens every time. My worry is that the Tories will lose votes to various "right" parties and labour will have a landslide victory. Sadly I don't have an answer to that one unless we can get decent people into the main parties on either side.

That is where restrictions on buying fuel could help. That, and strict controls on who is allowed to buy or own a car, much like with firearms, after all, they kill many more people, even in the USA.
2
@genigeni9335 The worst part that is ruining things for so many people is the obsession with litigation. Everyone seems to want to sue someone for their own stupidity.
2
@genigeni9335 When idiots trip over their feet because they aren't looking where they are going and sue the council for thousands and there are numerous adverts for where there is blame etc you know that things are bad. It is costing ordinary people millions and making rich scum bags richer.
2
@mariaefelices6543 Just like the people campaigning against a cash free society?
2
@johndilloway9762 It is exactly what capitalism is all about. Push the profiteering and greed until the customer gets fed up.
2
How about the dodgy Met Copper who was known to express various dodgy views on line to his colleagues before doing what he did to an innocent woman? What if he could have been caught before the attack?
2
@toonarmy8524 You have and you are because these videos are tele-visual, just not on that big box in the corner of your living room.
2
@edc1569 The truth is, smart meters should reduce the cost of your gas and electricity as they don't have to come round and read your meter which must cost them quite a bit. Sadly, the utility companies might be owned by foreign companies but they are still run by accountants, often with a civil service background. All the Maggie Thatcher bull about competition and the free market goes out of the window.
2
@Tourist1967 Please explain why you think I am wrong about what I am saying, you seem more aware than I thought from your comment.
2
@effdiffeyeno171 If you "like" to be able to do things rather than "have" to then that is entirely up to you and is what is called a privilege. I do many things that I "like" to do that are enormously expensive but never complain really about the cost because it is what I want to do. Never complain about things over which you have control.
2
@cornishhh As I said, rather than aim at high performance and long range, why not practical cars for ordinary people? I think the answer is probably to do with the status symbol culture around new cars as much as anything these days.

Baby milk substitutes are not good for the babies or the mothers in many cases, as they say, breast is best and is free. I the third world, companies like Nestle promote it which means the mothers need a source of clean water otherwise they are poisoning the kids. Breast feeding also goes a long way to delay fertility in the mothers which means formula allows them to become pregnant sooner and thus they need more formula.
2
Legend has it that the use by date was put on milk in the US by mafia gangs so that they would sell more milk.

@tonysheerness2427 Ask the PM, Costa and Amazon!

Or, to fool people into thinking "They" have not already done something dodgy with the phone network. Alternatively, in order to be able to identify the paranoids and other dangerous people?
1
One of the guys where I used to work came from Croydon and regularly used to brag about not paying for everything when he went to Tesco and round here, the trolleys end up dumped in the harbour by students. Few supermarkets round here even use the £1 coin deposit devices.
1
With flour it is quite possible that they have cut down on additives rather than added them.
1
Good quality flour is far from pure white!
1
Are you talking about Macdonalds popping up everywhere including right next to schools and in hospitals?
1
@brentwestbrook The jews have been trying it for 75 odd years in Israel!
1
@me38443 It has all been about greed and money since Maggie did her stuff. Giving away all our national assets to her mates, many of whom have connections with the people in the middle east who are trying to destroy their neighbours who incidentally are actually the original population of the country.
1
I want a nice cheap, grown up 4x4 if anyone wants to sell me one. Certainly don't want a poncy Chelsea tractor.
1
@17millionfuckoffs Remember, it is the civil service who run the country, regardless of which party is in power! If voting changed anything then it would have been outlawed years ago.
1
What, like the Russian one? Mmm, didn't turn out well did it.
1
Badger the hell out of your local MPs and any cadidates to think about OUR country first and the ordinary people in it. They might listen if enough people do this.
1
@alanbone5512 What if "Reform" turns into a monster at the thought of the power they could have (assuming they win enough seats to make an impact)? How do we know that they won't push for new laws that appear to address people's concerns but have huge negative consequences?
1
@sobeit1927 I always say that it is the civil service who run the country regardless of who is in power and if voting made any difference it would have been made illegal years ago.
