It must be possible to hack smart meters in some way or even just block the signal they send out. Perhaps some smart people need to look into this?

@edc1569 The truth is, smart meters should reduce the cost of your gas and electricity as they don't have to come round and read your meter which must cost them quite a bit. Sadly, the utility companies might be owned by foreign companies but they are still run by accountants, often with a civil service background. All the Maggie Thatcher bull about competition and the free market goes out of the window.

@mda5003 That is what I was thinking. I am surprised some paranoid have not done that already as they must have plenty for making their hats with.
