@therapist6328 Are you suggesting that the USA is a genuine democracy when it does things like this?
4
@thepagecollective Very well said, as I remarked elsewhere, things must have been very bad before the revolution for what happened after to be allowed to take place!
2
@gonebamboo4116 Very sad but true!
2
And one wonders why they had the revolution?
2
It just goes to make you think how bad things must have been before the revolution to allow these things to be "normalised " after it.
1
@kenneth9874 It might physically have been done by force but it still needs to be allowed to happen- that is what revolutions are about. Thomas Sowell has some interesting things to say about why revolutions loose their way.

It accounts for why Yanks are so fat! Mind you, that was only the story we were told by Western media?
1
The two things you describe sound very much like what happened with the allies in WW1!

@ozymandiasultor9480 Oh woe am I, everything bad in the world is the fault of wicked colonialism! Do you know where Europeans bought their slaves and from who? And why didn't they take slaves from every country they colonised?
1
@ozymandiasultor9480 Sad to disappoint you but I am English, although probably with a good chunk of Scandinavian in my ancestry. Most slaves in the time frame that is most talked about by the likes of yourself were bought in slave markets in Africa where they were being sold by their fellow countrymen and Arabs. We Europeans did this because it seemed to be an accepted part of their culture. In the preceding centuries, the south coast of England and Ireland as well as much of Europe had been raided by pirates taking slaves for markets in the middle east. The big difference there is that we actually did something about that while the African countries just let it continue to this day as they don't seem to think that it is wrong.

@ozymandiasultor9480 Not my ancestors, we have always been poor and in fact victims of terrible behaviour in the past.
1
@ozymandiasultor9480 If behaviour is considered normal in a country then why should a visitor challenge it?
1
It must be hard to brain wash an American given how few actually have brains.
1
America, land of the free and home of the brave, or maybe not?
1
There are winners in war, those who cause it (ie the leaders) and the arms manufacturers.

Coming to a town near you soon?
