I am not sure how the French run SNCF and the TGV trains but they are fantastic. Reliable, pretty cheap, clean and modern. They are also extremely busy! Much the same applies to the buses with a recent 1hr 40 min trip over quite a distance only costing 2.5 Euros each.

The reason the government holds control is so that they can give money away to their mates who make obscene profits.

Maggie gave them away to her mates for next to nothing.

@Vingul His policies were very good for a great many German people!

@Vingul You are preaching to those with the worst form of deafness!

Some people in the UK thought he would get rid of Russia and the communists.

@TheImperatorKnight I am afraid to say that you seem ignorant of the many good things he did for many of his ordinary people earlier on.

@Mr.Witness I think you have listened to a bit too much anti (Nazi) German propaganda. Think about cars for the masses and the road network as the most glaringly obvious examples. Then look deeper and you will find out more.

@timbushell8640 What ever they were employed for, people earning money contribute to the whole of their society. Even the most ludicrous of job creation schemes are better than having people out of work.
1
@TheImperatorKnight Could it be that your videos are a bit like the BBC have become, dumbed down for viewing figures with no thoughts about accuracy? Hearing only one side of a story is never going to be helpful. What makes things worse about anti-Nazi propaganda is the group of people behind it!

@ffff7164 There economy was in an awful state in the late 20s, even worse than most other western countries. That is how Hitler came to power democratically and stayed in power that way for a good few years. Only when he lost the plot and greed and power took over did things start to go wrong. What makes many people hate any notion that he did good things is how he targeted a particular group of people who were somewhat responsible for the previous bad times.

@christopherhitchens163 Specially when it is coming from someone peddling propaganda?
1
@TheImperatorKnight The whole point of propaganda is to change the facts. Our own government did a great job of this before and during the war.

@Eddie_of_the_A_Is_A_Gang I think being an American you failed to understand that not all job creation is about manufacturing, it can be about services. I guess you are one of those people who think that the unemployed should starve and that mass unemployment is good as it keeps labour costs down.
1
@cstgraphpads2091 It is better in so many ways that people are occupied doing something even if it has little real value than paying them to do nothing. If you don't give them some support when unemployed you end up driving down wages for everyone (except the bosses) and you end up like some south American countries with a crazy wealth divide.

Is your local government as corrupt as they are in the UK - heavily linked to the Free Masons with work only going to their mates at ever increasing cost to the tax payer?
1
@gbcb8853 Well, it seems to work pretty well from my experience. The French do seem to have a circular economy to a degree and you have to admire them for that. A classic example is boating - they made it accessible and popular with ordinary people (and there is no reason it cannot be in the UK! ) and even gave tax breaks if you bought a new French boat and kept it in one of their marinas. The result is huge numbers of boats being owned with the knock on benefits to the economy. The same applies to their buses (as does apply in some Scandinavian countries). Make them cheap enough and reliable enough and cover useful routes and people will use them. It doesn't take many passengers to completely change the economics of running buses. In the UK, it is the civil service mindset where if not enough people use the bus then they put up the price and less people use it, whereas if you dropped the price slightly a few more people would use them so you could further drop the price and more people would.

@gagamba9198 While in the UK the government just gives millions to their "poor" mates and ordinary people suffer.

@night6724 Do I detect a high horse? All the trains and buses that I used in Brittany last year were clean and on time, even if quite busy. As for your dislike of a circular economy (and in truth none are purely that) it seems you are one of the more, more, more generations who then complain about house prices going up and up along with the general cost of living.

@night6724 Is the country being managed by the state any worse than it being managed by a very few very wealthy elite who really don't care about ordinary people?
1
@night6724 Sounds like you were unlucky with your experiences in France - My trip from Morgat to Brest on a bus was great and very cheap and then the train to St. Malo via Rennes was also good - trains on time, clean and with plenty of room for luggage & even bikes if you want to. The other interesting thing about the Brittany region in France is the number of towns that run free tourist buses in season which means people spend money in the local shops & restaurants instead. At many of the marinas I visited you can borrow a bike for a couple of hours for free to get your shopping etc.
