He was one of the victims of someone's ego trip. When you look deep into the whole incident you find out that the outcome for many people would have been so much better.

@MS-sb9ov Have you looked deeply into the Falklands war? It seems people in many countries knew something was about to kick off with Argentina quite some time before they invaded. We in the UK were told it happened very suddenly which makes no sense given the time it would have taken the Argentinians to get ready, having not fought a war for a very long time (maybe 200 years if I recall correctly). It is much like the "weapons of mass destruction" story used by a later PM to show how tough he was.

@MS-sb9ov At the time I had access to a fairly limited circulation publication aimed at military suppliers. It was not a British magazine and I suspect it was probably produced in Europe in various languages from many of the articles. From what it was saying, the invasion came as no surprise to many people in the know due to what was happening in Argentina. Suitable preemptive action or better still proper diplomatic action could well have saved many lives on both sides and the British tax payer many millions of pounds. There is even an anecdote from a Falklander at the airport who was asked some time previously by an Argentinian "businessman" if a loaded Hurcules could there land safely. The effort our forces put in was titanic even though some of the leadership could have done a little better had they listened to people a little lower down the ladder.
