Didn't Germany have a surprise result back in the 30s?
3
Didn't some German guy want a United Europe back in the 30s/ 40s.

They could certainly win seats, but from the Tories and who can guess what that might mean?

Sad thing is, Labour are pretty much guaranteed to win the next general election due to the various more extreme parties taking votes from the tories.
1
Pity this is happening as all it will mean is a landslide victory for Labour with a huge majority in parliament. No if it was the Labour party of old, it would be a very good thing, however new labour combines all the bad things that have crept into the Labour party with some of the worst things from the Tories!
1
In the UK, like many western democracies, the winning party only needs the support of just over 1/3 of the voters to win. This makes it pretty easy to "buy" votes- just think about Trump and Maggie for two very good (bad?) examples? It also works exactly the same for the left by the way.

Could the Reform party actually be a Labour plot? They will certainly take a good number of the Tory votes, but what about the fabled "Red wall " voters? They will nearly all return to Labour having found that the Tories are a bunch of liars who have no interest in ordinary people. I have no solution to offer, other than getting some decent people back in the main parties.

Gerexit doesn't have that nice ring to it that Brexit does.

I have only ever voted for them once in the past as they have never offered me anything as an ordinary working class man.

@nightowl7459 Labour have ruined the country over the last 13 years (by not offering a good alternative to the Tories).
1
Does anyone really believe that Reform will really win enough seats to do any real good? I deeply suspect that they will be responsible for Labour winning hands down.
1
Sadly, reform will allow Labour to win any general election coming up. It may actually be a good thing for some though.

I thought it was a German populist leader that tried to create a unified Europe back in the 30s?

Having known someone who worked in Switzerland for a while, they seem to be very different from "us" in the UK. They seem to be very "responsible" in general in a great many ways. One thing many people do not know about them is the very large number of military firearms held by ordinary citizens, yet the rate of gun crime (and many other crimes) is very low.

@freespeechisneverwrong9351 They already work for the highest bidder! We need less tv channels rather than more as it is getting like the US where virtually every channel shows the same rubbish with endless adverts. I am not sure what the answer is, but I would prefer a regulated BBC with 3 or 4 channels covering different audiences topics to endless rubbish like in the US.

Over here in France there seems to be an arms race when it comes to the strength of beer, I have seen draught beers as strong as wine. Good tasting beer really not need to be very strong and is much more enjoyable as you can drink 3 or 4 pints without any worries.

@ssuwandi3240 Can't say I have ever tried vegan beer or even really understand what makes it vegan these days. I have tried a few very low alcohol beers and while most are rubbish, one or two are drinkable when you are driving. I just wish they were not so expensive- maybe that is the sort of market that really needs to be looked at.
1
@ssuwandi3240 Sorry but I have no idea what you are on about. I was simply talking about beer and the fact that it is annoying how expensive the low alcohol versions are. Maybe we need to go back to the old fashioned "small beer" that or someone needs to come up with a low alcohol drink that tastes nice and is not bad for you.

The old joke about voting not making any difference otherwise the Civil Service would have banned it years ago seems to be even more true these days!

@Gunni1972 Thanks for the explanation of how the system works- just what is needed.
