Or as are in fact dolphins, huge, unfriendly ones, but still dolphins.

@MegaDixen Sounds like a very good idea. Just imagine living in a England with a population density lower than France - low house prices, plenty of space for everyone, quieter roads, you name it, it would be amazing. Pity I will never see it in my lifetime.

Almost like watching Bear Grylls and not seeing him grill a bear?
13
Orwell was the hero of the English teachers in my day, and quite rightly so, but I do recall this book / story being in the mix. I guess it was more about the morality of each character's behaviour than anything political in my days.

In the 60s people were still having 4 or 5 kids (I am one of 5). Then we went through a period of people being encouraged to have more kids due to child benefit payments etc. which resulted in some very large families for poor people.

@joshuakhaos4451 But what problem is there with a decreasing population? In these times when you don't need a huge workforce in any country due to technology you will only end up with lots of very poorly paid or unemployed people. Just think, 20 years ago it took dozens of men to build a car, now it is virtually all automated. Go back to the 30s and a reasonable sized farm would employ 20 or 30 people. Nowadays 3 or 4 people can do all the work.

@dilpickles5928 Basically it is evolution and nature sorting itself out.
8
@noelienoelie8425 Really rich people and in fact anyone in a bigger business rely on poorer people to work for them and to buy their products to keep them rich.
7
@wyleecoyotee4252 Nobody does as the social pressures to be just another sheep keeping the flock growing are no longer there.
7
@mogznwaz Nothing wrong with being a perpetual teenager, it has worked fine for me. As you get older it is not the latest "toy" (in the traditional sense, like a computer game) that you can buy but a big yacht or motorhome and big boys toys for your hobbies.
7
@dantesparda7719 It certainly won't be good for the wealthy who rely on ever increasing numbers of poor people for cheap labour to keep them in the style they feel they deserve and it won't be for those who make obscene profits from housing (building or renting).
7
@rabidsminions2079 With technology there will be much less need for a large workforce and early indications show that the aging population will start to decline as later generations will not be living so long for various reasons.
6
@TonyZmex What "they" are you on about? Big businesses rely on increasing population to sell more products and make more money.
6
@dantesparda7719 Even weirder comment? Why have so many people fallen for the myth that a smaller population is a bad thing when it can only be a good thing for everyone. Less poverty in the world, less unemployment, you name it, it can only be a good thing. With the ever decreasing need for a large workforce due to automation etc it is what the world needs.
6
@VeraldoAncodini Virtually all gold was stolen at some time or another.
6
It is supposedly what made him so brave! If only they had the BCG vaccine in those day's he would have lived much longer!
5
@RRHandle When I think back to when the UK population was around 50 million and how nice the country was you can clearly see that there just isn't the space for 70 plus million and you understand all the problems that is causing.
5
Who is interested (genuinely) in the pain of others other than virtue signallers and physcopaths?
5
The odd thing is that one of today's leaders started out as a comedian and baited his neighbour into war.
4
That is way above 99% of people who worship many channels on here!
4
@thathandsomedevil0828 Being replaced by who and why?
4
I guess wisdom is the fourth element when taken into the same context as education, intelligence and being "clever". You can be educated but neither clever or intelligent (the classic rocket scientist!). You can be clever without being educated although you will tend to be intelligent, just as intelligence tends to make you clever. Being Wise is not necessarily directly linked to any of the other 3 but tends to come to the intelligent.
4
Putting the world to rights down the pub!
4
@nosirrahx You really do have a very strange outlook on life! What on earth would be the point of what you are saying - makes absolutely no sense. By the way, who are this "they / them" that you are so worried about?
4
@mrustle5707 They have started to attack sailing yachts in the bay of Biscay
4
The French railway system seems to be very efficient and has some of the fastest "real" trains on regular services. I have no idea how it is run or who owns it but it seems to be a good model.
4
Fascism and nazism are subtlety different things.
4
@tangoalpha1905 WTF are you on?
4
@shadowpriest2574 And you know how backwards countries where that is the case are!
4
@shadowpriest2574 For a start, it is you who seems to want rules & limitations in place. As for only wanting to change things if they benefit you then that applies to nearly everyone to a degree - even changing who can vote like you want to will benefit you.
4
Why did the Ukrainian comedian effectively declare war on Russia when half his people are actually Russians? Ordinary Ukrainian people would be no worse off under Putin than they were before.
3
@chrisredding6673 Totally agree there, I worked with Parisians but love the people from rural France- they are so proud of who they are (in terms of culture) yet so laid back and friendly.
3
@hosmerhomeboy The biggest concern that all decent & honest people have is about how much "more" can be gained honestly and decently. The concept of "to every man his worth" is what enters into it. Do you honestly believe those who tend to be branded the "Elite" these days should use all their power and money just to make more and to control anyone with less than them?
3
QuesadillaQuest808 Always look on the bright side, be prepared to take chances, be honest and always treat others how you would wish them to treat you until they prove unworthy.
3
@dantesparda7719 OK, if you seriously think it is not good, please explain in detail and not emotionally why it is not a good thing or better still why it is a bad thing.
3
@stefanisilva2493 I have been driven through parts of Rio and to European eyes it seems terrible, mind you parts of Portugal are not a lot better with at least one large squatter camp I know of not far from Lisbon.
3
So much for greed and capitalism!
3
It is so odd, but I have only ever really seen the opposite to many of the side effects regularly quoted. Women who are seriously randy and as a consequence walk round with a big grin on their faces! My Mrs completely avoided menopause by staying on the pill longer than normal. It has allowed my three sisters to live great lives.
3
An interesting point you raise regarding guns and bank robbers in the UK. Did you know that more people got seriously injured in the days before guns became widely used?
3
I would suggest American cooks would take hell to a whole new level!
3
@namastereciprocity4549 I ate at the famous Dallas tower resto and was very pleased with the food, I have to say. I have also eaten some fantastic Mexican food and Asian food out there. Sadly, much of what I was served was just big portions of bland stuff.
3
@rtg5881 oh dear, that is why I am a Libertarian!
3
@shadowpriest2574 It wasn't long ago in the UK that very many men did not have the right to vote, in fact right up until just before women got it. As for work, it was never a "right" for men but a necessity or even compulsory.
3
Intelligence is nothing to do with the accumulation of knowledge - that is education. I have known many intelligent people who were quite uneducated and more than a few educated people who were far from intelligent - genuine rocket scientists who could hardly change a light bulb!
2
The consequences of religious zealots can be seen in many places! They are not good!
2
Clamidia and gross obesity are big contributors to infertility, it is natures way of controlling population as there are currently way too many people on the planet. Just look how our countryside is being dug up for new houses and how house prices are going through the roof.
2
Dear Buragi, it looks like your comment in reply to one of mine has "got lost". I can tell you that a great many people on YouTube do seem to worship channels on both sides of the fence from animal rights nutters who hang on every word of some vegan ranter to out and out merchants of hatred who believe everything someone who purports to share their views. There are many who challenge or question the views of those on either side of the fence with honest reasoning and arguments.
2
@evilemperorzurg9615 You want to watch yourself saying a tiger isn't sentient - that will up set the animal rights looines!
2
@orirune3079 Good point there, but still disappointing.
2
@helenmalinowski4482 I guess you are not aware that the ability to make witty quips on topics like this is an indication of intelligence. The ability to fawn at the feet of someone who goes against the grain for the sake of it and believe everything their heroes say, despite them not actually offering a proper solution is something else.
