  2. When you compare the cost of white goods 40 or 50 years ago and how long they lasted, you get a pretty good idea why they are now so cheap now and do not last that long.

  4. We still have an old fashioned filament bulb in our our bedroom that get switched on and off every night - from my reckoning it must be well over 5 years old. It is on an old fashioned dimmer switch.
