@S.Trades I have been pulled over only 3 times and all for good reason. 1st time because I misunderstood the actions of the police car and pulled out think they had slowed down to let me,, I was also driving a very old and tatty camper van. A polite response from me to questions and a polite word from the officer and I was on my way without even checking my papers. 2nd time I confess that my actions might have been provocative in a way, but again, politeness all round. 3rd time, yes I had unknowingly committed an offence by having someone riding in the rear of an estate car not in a proper seat. Politeness all round and a ticket for use and construction well deserved.

@Treblaine So the guy turns out to be a banned driver in a stolen car, rams into the back of your car at speed wiping out your children and wife and leaving you seriously injured. Then you discover that the police had stopped him half an hour earlier but got fed up with him being argumentative and let him go.

@zacote1970 How many cops have died or been seriously assaulted while going about their lawful duty? You don't end up in police custody unless you have done something wrong. That doesn't mean people should die, but it is a big step towards staying alive.
