He is also the guy who said wind turbines were fitted with diesel engines for when it wasn't windy enough!

@markabrahams2191 Simple proof would be a photo of one of the units or videos of fuel being delivered. How about exhaust smoke or staining from the exhaust? What about work colleagues who previously worked in the industry who knew an awful lot about the workings and would have been particularly interested in these engines had they existed. One of the prime reasons this form of wind turbine is used is the low wind velocity required to start them in comparison to other types that might be more efficient at higher wind speeds. How do you think the old fashioned windmills used to work?

@sobeit1927 Show me some proof that they are or even why they might be needed?

@A2Z1Two3 My 12 ton sailing yacht will start moving in around 8 knots of wind coming at 45 degrees from the front. In those conditions it will do about 6 knots easily when I have the sails trimmed properly. It takes around 40 BHP for the engine to do the same. Cloth sails are much less efficient than modern turbine blades.

@fluxington He seems to completely misunderstand the meaning and purpose of legal fiction.

@richardturpin3665 A tv presenter just used the words baubles which sums up a lot of what Knowles says.

@@BusterGonads-zj2sw How about genuine insider knowledge from someone who did not have an axe to grind nor stood to benefit. Much of the reasoning used in his video showed a complete lack of understanding of how wind power works. You only have to watch the AC40 sailing races to get an appreciation of what wind can do.

@Shoomer88 That actually sounds plausible and would be a pretty desperate measure.

@paul756uk2 It is possible that SOME early installations in Scotland MAY have had diesel engines in the system but I have not seen any believable evidence to prove this. These engines would have been pretty large to do the job that they were supposed to have. Modern turbine installations have electrical anti icing. All this said, Mr Knob le was suggesting that all turbines have diesel engines for when it is not windy and idiots were chipping in to say that they have seen the blades turning when there was no wind. One of the ironies with the Scottish wind turbines is that on many occasions they have to feather the blades (ie put the at an angle where the wind does not turn them) on some because there is too much electricity being produced.
