@JaguarAudio you are completely missing the point and the facts. Let me help you. 1. The tax assessor is the ONLY person involved in determining the taxable value of real estate (the media lied to you about this) It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what any of the people you mentioned say or do. The tax rate I was referring to was the property value x the annual property tax percentage the county has set. 2. The banks do their own appraisal of the properties and are SOLELY responsible for determining the value of the asset they are lending on and the financial strength of the borrower (the media lied to you about this as well) 3. The media ALSO lied to their gullible viewers about possible issues with the IRS and hyperventilated for days about tax fraud while ignoring a simple fact: Property taxes are NOT paid to the IRS, they are paid to the county... Lol I have owned my own mortgage company for over 20 years so I am pretty certain I am qualified to opine on such topics. I hope you find this helpful and I am sorry that you were conned by the fake news propaganda figures calling themselves "journalists"

@stephenambrose2103 If Maralago was solely a commercial property, it would actually be worth MORE, not less because of the fact that Maralago generates over $20M of income every year (assuming your statement was true, which IT IS NOT) It is currently zoned residential/commercial which means it is a multi use property. I am sorry the media lied to you about this.

@richardhoner7842 I have no idea where you got that absolutely false info from but it is 100% disinformation. There is no such thing as "development rights" Even if you were correct (which YOU ARE NOT) the property would be worth more as a commercial sale than a residential one because the club portion of the residence generates over $20M annually in revenue. Everything is based on what are referred to as "zoning restrictions" which can be changed if the county allows and approves the zoning change. I hope this helps and I am sorry you were conned by all of the fake news.

@deborahcooler8392 he lives there full-time, you're not very bright are you? Keep in mind, if it is a commercial property it would be worth more, not less so you're defeating your own argument genius. Marlago generates more than 20 million dollars a year in revenue. If you knew anything about commercial real estate, which obviously you do not, you would understand that this increases the resale value dramatically.
