  2. Yes thats how I see it and I had exactly the same question asked of me back in the 70s and 80s, it was a common question. Did I storm off and let it bother me, of course not I got on with life and didnt carry a massive chip on my shoulder like some people. This is all getting out of hand now and I'm sick of it.

A positive outcome is to apologise to the 80 year old who was trying to strike a conversation and stop this childish behaviour and recognise that things can be misinterpreted, it doesnt mean intention to offend. I was asked this exact same question as a child and its never held me back, offended me or was enough of an issue for me to mention it to parents. All this does is stoke up racial tensions, we've all had a bellyfull of this now. This lady has had her reputation ruined now because of this accusation.
