Happy Forth of July to you as well! I hope you took some down time and enjoyed the fireworks. I so agree with you that this world is changing, and we need to change with it. There are many government rules that no longer apply. There are many outdated (blue laws) that are still in the books and can be used if one wants to use them. Around me (in CT) there are many long term (even for life) small cottages and hotel rooms that are only one small room. If tiny homes, and granny pods cannot be built because they do not fit the square foot requirement of a house, why are these cottages, and hotel/motel rooms able to be rented year round? I also think the court system should be more standardized. What may get you a five year sentence in CT, may be a life sentence in another state. Often, it's children put in jail before they've even had a chance to learn how to live. And a lot of times there is not counseling provided. I have a cousin who went into prison as a teen, and came out 20 years later like a cave man. He does not know to get along with people, and how he should speak to them, how to make appointments for his well being, how to use a computer, what things he cannot say and can be prosecuted for. He believes that people on the TV are real people and not characters playing a part. The list goes on. He doesn't have any friends, and doesn't know how to make any. His Mom is gone, and his Dad has a habit of reminding him he's not in jail anymore, often in from of other people. Hey, if someone starts a petition, I'll sign it. I'm not houseless yet, but I'm retired and see it coming.
