nothing permanent can be done until you get a constitution establishing democracy. nothing temporary can be done until an idea is supported by congress. the usa was designed to let the rich rule, and when you are on top, you make the rules hard to change. that's why there is no referendum, no citizen initiative, in the constitution. madison said plainly he was preventing democracy, and he has been very successful. so successful that no one, not even 'radicals,' refers to the lack of democracy. it is simply unthinkable in the usa, a sign of cultural indoctrination so deep that progress is impossible. but go on talking about how many angels can dance on a pin-head, it seems to satisfy many.
