  1. during the russian revolution, lenin found it necessary to strip ukraine of food, to feed his supporters. resulting hatred made it possible to recruit a ukranian division in support of the german invasion. but hitler double-crossed them, as he wanted the food and the land. survivors were genuine nazis, other ukranians surplus to requirements. when hitler finally launched barbarosa, his army his army was in summer uniforms. so they survived the winter by driving peasants out of their homes, into the snow, without clothing. you really had to be a nazi, to go on living. so ukraine has reason to hate russia, and germany. currently, they tend to choose russia.
