  1. if you allow small elite groups to rule you, they will limit information. if you knew what they do, you might wake up and chuck them out, so the fundamental condition of a society that aims at a decent life for the general public is getting and sustaining democracy. so it's a waste of time to argue for free speech, while allowing elite rule. the main game is getting democracy, all else is distraction.
