  1. politics in usa is a theatrical event, american kabuki. when you don't have referendum and initiative, you have to pin all you political desires on a person who is collecting votes concerning a wide range of activities. hypocrisy, plain lying, is built in to the system, inescapable. the result is a system utterly unresponsive to an electorate who are told endlessly that 'this is democracy, see, we have voting.' orwell labeled the process double-think, but the cancer has metastasized since then. you are not entitled to complain about the results. you live in an evil society, carefully designed to ensure that the people did not rule. if you are ignorant of this reality, progress is impossible. if you understand, why complain, if you are not going to act?
