  1. in fact, gates was a ruthless businessman from beginning. part of usa culture, shouldn't blame him unduly. but he was never the kindly philanthropist that he spends money to shape in public opinion.. gates is just symptomatic of usa culture, as is the pathetic combination of submission, envy and anger that characterizes ordinary usans. you don't live in a democracy, you aren't, in general, of citizen quality, and a few such as mt dore make a living by rubbing yer noses in the unlovely mess that is is usa life. the passivity you see in these responses is the ironic outcome of a nation and culture born to make slavery survive a further 60 years. and gates is the inheritor and modern form of the slave plantation magnates whose "give me liberty or give me death" did not extend to their african slaves.
