  1. usa society is a natural organism, and every part of it is shaped by the rest. when the people are passive lumps, the elite are lazy and self-indulgent. when the society shapes most of the people into passive lumps, with education and law, then that is what they are. don't laugh or sneer, unless you are sure you are outside of society, with some independent character and view. people do what it profits them to do. in a society with great variation in wealth, there is a good living to be made in supporting the masters over the mob. if you don't like this, what have you done to change the society that generates this behavior? most will answer, nothing. there is widespread dissatisfaction with the structure of human society, but no visible means to change it.
