if you had citizen initiative, you could be citizens, and direct the activities of your nation. but you don't and you aren't. you are political beggars, pleading with the rich and powerful to throw you some coins. not very satisfying, i would have thought, but there is no visible activity towards getting democracy. a people that accepts elite rule will drift into slavery- and there you are.
