'democracy' is just a word, in english. almost empty of meaning, nowadays.
but it began as a greek phrase - 'demos kratia,' you see the resemblance....
and the greek phrase had a clear meaning, it was a label for a particular kind of political society. the classical greeks had many different kinds, so many different words. like eskimos, and 'snow.'
it meant a society in which the 'citizens ruled.' not kings,, not generals, and not politicians, the citizens ruled.
usa is rotten from top to bottom. this always happens in a society ruled by an elite. great inequality destroys any community.
the cure is getting democracy. is this possible? theoretically, easy. practically, looking at the quality of the usa people, maybe not. karl marx saw that nothing could be done with ignorant and alienated people, he called them 'lumpen proletariat,' and usa is mostly lumps.
when your police are thugs, when they lie in the face of photo evidence, you should take the lesson that you are cattle.
lumps, not citizens. citizens have power, you don't.
