  1. doesn't have to be this way? the people could have democracy, if enough wanted it. but there is no leadership, and probably never will be. so dissatisfaction will coalesce around fascism. murrikins are told endlessly they are lucky to be 'free.' but so are cattle till the hammer falls. usa is not a democracy, by law. neither is it a functional democracy, for the people decide nothing, but which crook, liar or sociopath shall hold office, in service to wealth. usa is an elective oligarchy. democracy is rule by people called 'citizens,' through referendum and initiative. accept no alternative.
