  1. to begin with, p51 was a long range, high altitude fighter, while fw190 was oriented towards battlefield domination. low and mid- alt performance. each could reliably whip the other in its specialty. the 190 had a feature that is seldom remarked upon in these 'what if' chats: cheap and rugged. that meant there were more 190's in the air, and numbers count, too. somewhat like the t34/85: just good enough, and lots of them.
