the 'founders' were not interested in democracy, madison said plainly that it results in the taxes of the 'opulent' being spent on the desires of the 'mob.' the president of the usa was constructed to be a king [for awhile] with the powers of george 3, madison's greatly admired ideal society. gossip all you wish about your betters in offices of power, but you are not citizens of democracy, only mere civilians in an oligarchy. your masters will throw you a few coins and tell you many lies, and that must satisfy you, because that's all you deserve.

the usa was designed to allow [slave plantation ] plutocrats to direct the nation. much has happened since then, but wealth still rules. madison said that was his purpose, when he was promoting his constitution to the grandees who controlled state legislatures in post-revolutionary america. the senate was intended to control the nation then, but presidents now are much more important than in his day, as the nation becomes an empire. very like the evolution of rome. but it boils down to this: wealth and power are transmutable, and if the nation's goal is widespread prosperity, then power must be widespread too. it is not- madison rightly feared democracy, as it would lead to the taxes of the 'opulent' being spent on the children of the 'mob.' he made sure it didn't happen. this conversation is pointless. the usa is not a democracy, and change is not possible without a second revolution.
