  2. usa won every substantive battle. but american casualties were not accompanied by any visible achievements. neither was there any visible goal, beyond the determination of lbj not to 'lose' vietnam. american mothers were not impressed, and their middle class sons were to valuable to lose for nothing. so that was the end of conscript armies fighting wars for the american imperium.
