  2. if you can't match the money, why not offer democracy? that is something the rich can not offer, that insures the rich do not bleed the nation dry. possible answer: most americans are serfs, in their minds, quite incapable of participating in democracy as citizens, most comfortable as followers of the powerful. although many states are democratic, to some degree, most are not. usa remains 'bubbaland.'
