'anybody can be president' is not a unique quality of america, or democracy. it's not even a democratic quality at all, it's just elective monarchy, which was madison's design. in a democracy, the people decide, through referendum and initiative, and public servants execute. no politicians necessary, or desirable. it needs educated grown-ups for citizens, which is why usa people know so little from public education, ignorant people are easily lied too.
