  1. the structure of the usa political system was explicitly described as ensuring the rule of the rich. and it has performed as madison intended. the only cure is revolution. since no elite hands over power until the threat of personal harm is seen as real and imminent, if you want change you must prepare to shoot. that in fact is the purpose of the second amendment. but it turned out that the people with guns are the ones who want to be loyal henchmen of the powerful. those mouthy city mouses got nothing but tasers and panic alarms. i think that's 'irony,' but it certainly ain't revolution. it is, otoh, a mild but reliable amusement. carry on 'carrying on.'
