fdr had control of congress, senate, briefly, and here you are, in gilded age, chapter 2. suppose bernie is in the oval office, with less control of congress and less control of senate- or none. will he achieve more than fdr? unlikely. but not hopeless- bernie does have one asset: he's got the buck in his hand when the real great depression crashes down. it will concentrate minds, maybe. it will certainly make obvious the need for system change, even if not clarify what to change. the stress will be greater than any president has had since fdr was driven to fight hitler. and bernie is not brand new. equally as important as choosing bernie is getting a good vp. andy yang seems obvious to me, if the economic crash is the main subject.
