  1. who should drop out? from whose point of view? they aren't there to please you, didn't you know that? most will drop out when cost overtakes chance of success. the only interesting element so far, is discovering that idle billionaires could buy their way in to the selection process. not a great surprise, but a useful marker in the transition from simulated democracy to naked medieval buying of mobs. i confess to a certain amount of guilty pleasure in seeing the emerging nature of american society- not suddenly worse, but definitely degraded in the visible sale of public office. of course, merely the sale of a chance at public office. but in a way, that is crookeder still.
