you can reasonably complain about the character of politicians, but they are what they are because they can be. and that's because you are too lazy, too dim or too frightened to take power from them. it turns out, when you are raised to think like serfs, you do. revolution comes from a dispossessed middle class, able to enliven the serfs and organize them. not yet visible in the usa, and maybe never will be. normally, the generals take over next.

your problem is, you'd like to take politics seriously so that your opinion would have meaning. but usa politics is a puppet show, and opinon is meaningless. if you want to be a citizen of a democracy, first you need to know what democracy is, by no means certain, and then you have to get it. you certainly ain't got it.
