homer sap is a domesticated species. most of us are ok with having the big thinking done by others. we are also a predatory species, and the most profitable prey has long been other humans. this leads to system stability with many poor and ignorant, and a few so rich that their every desire is satisfied without much thought. so they aren't good managers of nations, and neither are the people who work for them. this is a formula for population collapse, and possible extinction. i used to worry about this, mildly, but almost everyone is concerned with more pressing matters. so, relax, be happy--- while you can. if 420 ppm is the pruning knife mm and many others suggest, either move away from the equator or get actively involved in real politics --- mass demos to get their attention and promises of gunfire to come. do not enter political parties, their business is the enjoyment of power, not the salvation of the race.

mm is implying that wealthy people are driving homer sap into extinction? surely not! i'm pretty sure homer had better get democracy pronto, and socialism soon after, or greed will demonstrate the universal principle that if you eat everything, you die of hunger. there are probably too many of us on the planet already, but that problem will cure itself in the traditional ways. long term racial survival can only come from government of the people by the people, every kind of elite group has demonstrated incompetence, if the health of the ecosphere is a goal. the ascendancy of a trump highlights the hopeless obsolescence of the usa political system, it is in terminal decline. the best we can hope for is that the evil empire, yes, that's you, yankee, recedes gently into the history books without destroying the planet. mm, and many others, has suggested strongly that the soft landing is very unlikely. he has done us a service-- thank you, sir.
