  1. the significance of usa being a plutocracy is not simply the image of a daddy warbucks picking up a phone and telling his lobbyist to 'persuade' a useful vote, with attached 'support.' money is apparent everywhere- people do politics for money, without a smidgen of public interest entering the discussion. i don't know what it would take, to transform the usa into a democracy, but clearly it is impossible in one sense: democracy needs citizen quality people, and usa is a nation of economic units, whether signing billion dollar contracts, or turning 50$ tricks. it appears warren's team have re-purposed her as a useful 'progressive' face in the biden government, a consolation prize now that victory is out of reach. fewer people on the dance floor, with only bernie and biden on their feet still, although the billionaire jump-ins add a certain characteristic smell to the dance floor. i love the smell of burning money in the morning!
