  1. inequality was and is the goal behind the structure of the usa government. madison sold his constitution to the grandees in state congresses by pointing out that it would protect the taxes of the rich being spent on the poor. noting magical in the this document, it simply concentrated power in a few hundred people, who could be bought to sufficient degree by the rich. and that is what has happened for most of usa history. it will continue until the people demand democracy, or, much more likely, until some general has sufficient personal loyalty from his soldiers that he can take power directly. but most likely, america will simply drift into 'banana republic' conditions and leave the world/empire stage to others. that is the default outcome, implicit in a constitution modeled on the great britain of madison's day- a polity he thought perfect.
