  2. trump is not a symptom of decay within the republican party. they are rotten, trump out-lied 20+ candidates. but the democrats are equally rotten. they had one candidate, anointed, a few trivial voices, and a socialist straw-man to hold interest right up to the planned result. but any political party is a business. it will inevitably look after the interests of its members, with due regard to internal status. they made the visible decision that clinton would do best accommodating wall street, ahead of the rust belt. for a party that pretends to be for the common american, that is real corruption. and it didn't pay off, a bit of surprise there even if very close. the usa constitution has corruption and entitilement built in, it was written to ensure the rule of the rich, after all. it is not a document establishing democracy, it's purpose is to make sure democracy didn't happen. 230+ years later, we can say it has been brilliantly successful in the achievement of that goal. so trump happened. a little tear in the fabric of political structure. but under that tear, real unrest- a lot of 'middle' americans have found themselves unemployed or under-employed. neither party is much interested in america's losers, and both allowed that to be obvious before 2116. trump simply lied his way into the oval office. the constitution is hopelessly obsolete. the political professionals are widely despised, and a few new faces won't change the character of the parties. there is no way for the people to rejuvenate the system, except revolution. and there is no visible call for radical change. the establishment are entitled to die in office, the people are ignorant and handless, and the few radicals seem to think they can beat the system, if only they are elected. has never happened before- even fdr did not change the system. trump really is a symptom, but of a terminal disease.
