  1. democracy is the english version of a greek phrase, 'demos kratia.' aristotle used it as a label for the greek city-states, notably athens, wherein the 'demos' [citizens] kratia' [ruled]. some usa states have it, notably california. it would be a flourishing democracy if independent, but it and others, is not. neither is the federation. using the word democracy in reference to usa or its individual states is a cynical dis-education of the people, who can not struggle to get democracy when they are told daily that they have it already. a notable example of thought control through newspeak. worse still, usans learn to despise 'democracy' since the societies that 'have' it, are corrupt and plainly owned by the rich, both private and corporate. it is more than 100 years since the actual progressive movement brought democracy to several usa states. what has happened to their grandchildren, that the ideal is never raised?.
