the default setting of american society was well-characterized by the phrase 'gilded age.' america was designed to be ruled by the rich, and mostly it has been. reagan gets blamed for restoring the normal conditions, but the blame lies with the founding fathers, and the current populace, a nation of submissive whiners. it's not going to improve. the next step is military takeover, perhaps 10 years from now.
