  1. if you imagine that the machinations of politicians in office have any connection to democracy, you are deluded. the people who wrote the constitution were clear, explicit, that the usa was not a democracy. it is an aristocracy, those aristocrats in senate and house control your life, and you can not prevent whatever harm they do. often they work in secret, so that you can not punish individual members of the elite through election. democracy is simple: the public service runs the nation, under direction of the electorate, through referendum and initiative. their activities are a matter of immediate public knowledge, so the citizen vote is informed. you have none of that. talk of 'american democracy' is delusional, and usually based on cynical hypocrisy.
