  1. i like the use of 'democratic republic.' that is the preferred euphemism for elective aristocracy. there is no democracy in the federal constitution, by intent. neither is there much knowledge of history or political science in the people, equally by intent. result, the cattle are allowed to 'participate' in elections which do not improve or even sustain their quality of life. yet they don't complain, thinking this is as good as it gets. when orwell wrote about 'doublethink' he was excoriating the ussr, but it turns out he should have been directing it at the english-speaking nations as well.

  2. the important point here is not that trump is a shame to the nation. that is well known. but the important point is that biden and his family are using their position to extract cash from the ukraine. that was not widely known. both parties are crooked machines existing to enrich their public officers. that should be widely known. the blind acceptance of biden corruption should not be obscured by the even worse character or the trump government. they are only less vile because of temporary lack of opportunity. put biden in office and one can reasonably expect him to scale up his aspirations of wealth. dc is often referred to as 'the swamp.' i have read that there are 10 professional lobbyists for every elected official. there should be none, if fair administration of the nation was the mission of the government. but they don't even pretend, anymore., nor even notice corruption, being long habituated to the smell. and the people accept it. nothing to be done, god wills it. so there can be no hope of substantive improvement. the limit of american aspiration is that they enjoy an occasional brief period of relative prosperity due to an indulgent king. good king fdr comes to mind, perhaps abraham lincoln as well. can't think of a third...
