  1. the ff's did not establish democracy, neither did it creep in by stealth. they established elective aristocracy, the polite label for plutocracy. it came to be called liberal democracy when the landless men were allowed to vote for which nob would rule them. actual democracy is a different thing entirely, but as orwell pointed out, judicious use of doublethink and newspeak saves a lot of money in managing the cattle.
