  1. if you read the constitution, you will discover the word 'democracy' does not appear. neither is there any reference to 'referendum,' or 'citizen initiative.'in fact, the constitution establishes elective oligarchy. documents relating the activity of the constitutional convention reveal that democracy was briefly discussed and refused, as it would lead to unwashed masses ruling over landed gentlemen. consequently, there is no reason to impute democracy to the structure or activities of the usa government. people who talk about 'american democracy' are delusional. why then do people do it? the best way to keep people from demanding democracy is to tell them that what they have is democracy, an improved version done for them by loving politicians, no effort required. such a lie, repeated often from childhood, creates a nation of ignorant, passive, and hopeless couch potatoes, as here we see.
